Italian Cast Iron St Peter’s Key Door Knob 19th CenturyA huge scale cast iron door handle in the form of St Peters hand grasping the key to the kingdom of Heaven. Originating in early 19th Century Italy, the knob would have adorned a very grand and imposing door, probably one with strong connections to the Catholic Church. The cast iron of the hand and wrist is iron coloured and patinated with a wonderful age pitted surface. The ornate key top and attached rose have a delicate colouring of verdigris
