Gentoo Penguin, Cuverville Island, Antarctic PeninsulaCuverville Island sits in the Errera Channel, one of the busiest Gentoo colonies on the Antarctic Peninsula. This bird had separated from the group and was standing perfectly still on the snow, almost posing. The flat, overcast light works well here. No harsh shadows, just clean diffused illumination that picks up every detail in the plumage and that remarkable orange red bill. I like the simplicity of this image.
