Storm, Achill Island, MayoAchill Island takes a battering on days like this. The Atlantic was throwing everything it had at the rocks, waves breaking apart on impact, spray lifting off the surface and drifting inland like smoke. You could taste the salt from fifty metres back. I made this photograph wide to capture the full scale of it. The dark rock shelves in the foreground anchor the composition, while Slievemore fades into haze and sea spray behind. There's a single break
